Audio streaming

Live audio streaming for most stations in South Africa is provided by the Anthill and by Net Dynamix. However, if you plan to listen to the radio for an extended period of time, it is best to initiate it from the home page of the respective radio station (as shown below).

To listen live, you may need to download a special player:

Common problems and possible solutions:

  • No connection: the station server may be busy or down. Try again.
  • The sound breaks: Internet congestion. Set the buffer in Windows Media Player to 30 seconds. This should give you a clearer, uninterrupted connection.
  • Become static only: contact the station because its server may be down.
  • No sound: check your volume carefully! And you need enough dedicated internet feed to receive the feed.

Listeners can choose how and when to listen to their favorite shows, and it is now also possible to listen to certain stations on your mobile phone.

If you are listening through your mobile or cell phone, you may need to download the appropriate software to your phone. Many stations also offer on-demand podcasts, which you can download from their websites.

Note: Audio streaming can use a large amount of data. If you have a limited data contract, be sure to monitor your usage.
